When all else fails… Pick a flower!!!

In my attempt to improve on my photography skills, I find myself loaded down in my travels with all of the camera equipment I have acquired over the years. I can also tell you that on my three-day journey, I used only two of those items, my camera and the cord to transfer my photos to my laptop. Note to self, it may not be necessary to bring EVERYTHING I own with me)

The first overnight of my trip I was in Tampa Bay, FL. I was all excited when I got to my room because for the first time In a long time, I was on the good side of the hotel!!! I went straight outside to evaluate the view. It was dark; the lights were pretty so there I was, still in my uniform, making a makeshift tripod out of my deck chairs (note to self, add tripod to camera gear). I only wish someone had a camera on me. I finally turned in at 1:30 am only to wake up with the sun peaking through the curtains at 7:30. Normally I would be upset because it was way earlier than I needed to wake up, but because I was excited to catch the morning bay view, I jumped out of bed. Sadly, it was overcast and raining………

Day two of my trip took me to Providence RI (PVD). Because we stay in a hotel so close to the airport, there is not a lot around there to see. However I was determined to stay on task, I grabbed my camera and went for a walk. Even though it was late afternoon, the sun was gray and gloomy. Given it was the 4th o f July, all the stores were closed for the day so there were few if any people on the streets. (By the way, is there a rule that I can’t take photos of my passengers?? The little girl with the bright red curls holding an American flag while in her Dora the explorer pajama’s would have made for a excellent photo) I found this amazing abandon structure was appealing to the eye. I knew what I wanted the photo to look like, but given I am so new at this, I had not a clue how to make it happen. The following are the best of my attempts If anyone has a clue how to fix it, help a girl out!!

Basically the lesson I learned is..…when all else fails find a pretty flower and take a picture.

Flowers never fail you and are always beautiful!!!!!
